Now more than ever, fitness is important for both dogs and people. The most commonly recommended exercise to improve fitness is walking. Walking is considered a safe activity that improves muscular strength, circulation, memory, weight loss, increases energy, helps with sleep, and reduces stress. In addition to walking do owners/handlers may want to add an additional layer of fitness by including cardio, flexibility, balance, and strength training, as well as mental fitness into his/her dogs fitness regimen. In doing so a fit dog class my be just the right thing.
During the level 1 course, you will learn loose leash walking and proper form for behaviors such as:
Tuck sit;Nose touch; Front paw targeting; stretch; Kick back stand; Spin left/right; Fold back down; Cavaletti poles; and Pivot rear legs. Canine and handler teams need to have completed a fundamental obedience/manners class and be able to use lure and reward. This class is not a physical rehabilitation or intended to recover physical deficit, injury, or post-surgical care. Level 1 class lasts 4 weeks and cost is $95.
